Bonnie Melrose Day at ShakeRag Art & Culture Center
On Saturday, January 21st, starting at 4:00 ShakeRag is celebrating Melrose and its colorful history. There will be tales, talks, and photos honoring Melrose’s history.
On display will be two painting by J. A. Brunner which Zonira H. Tolles used for the covers of her two books about Melrose’s history, Shadows on the Sand and Bonnie Melrose.
These paintings will be auctioned and the proceeds are tax deductible as a donation. They will be on view Friday and Saturday and written bids may be placed. Following a program of tales and photos honoring historic Melrose, a live auction of the paintings will take place at 5:30.
Also, on view will be wonderful handmade wooden models of actual boats that are part of the history of Melrose! These are made from recovered cypress dating to the same period as the boats! Donald Love, an area artist and builder of these boats, will be present to discuss his work. Come and see the Donald’s renditions of the FS Lewis, the Alert, and the City of Melrose!
Some are available for sale
