December 5, 2019    The People’s Band:  Ron Schmidt, Walter Jones,

Lisa Johnson and Tom Harrington    Ron and Walter are founding members of the band which plays at The Yearling Restaurant on Sunday afternoons (in season). Ron and Walter both retired from the University of Florida to pursue their music careers. Ron (vocals, guitar, and accordion) grew up in Minnesota, just down the road from Lake Wobegon, which may be his primary link to music fame. Walter (percussion) grew up in Gainesville, FL. He is more famous for his music in that he was born in Columbus, GA (about the time of the writing of “Columbus Stockade Blues”) and also played clarinet in the US Army band. Joined by Lisa Johnson and Tom Harrington they play a diverse array of music, perhaps best categorized as a “folk/country mish”.

Dec. 12    Blue Skies – Mack & Paula Tyner perform a variety of musical styles including swing, classic country, bluegrass, doo wop and Paula’s original tunes with Mack on bass fiddle and Paula May on guitar and banjo, sharing vocal leads and harmony.  Mack has sung in Barbershop Quartets and other acapella groups since high school.  As a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and budding songwriter, Paula May has played music professionally over 25 years and was the 2006 winner of the Florida State Old Time Guitar Finger picking competition. Dec. 19   Open Mike with Billy Ennis aka “Sweet William”   Musicians are invited to bring an instrument, be a part of an “Impromptu Coffee Talk”, closing out Shake Rag Coffee Talk for 2019. Enjoy goodies, conversation, music with a gathering of lake area friends.
