African-American Read-In

Join over a million readers nationally in celebrating African American authors and African American literature during the annual African-American Read-In! Featured readers will include your neighbors and local community leaders. An event for the whole family. Refreshments provided by the Hawthorne Woman’s Club.

Story-based interactive program featuring music fingerplays activities and puppets for preschool children 0-5.

 

Computer Club: Google CS First

Wednesdays, Feb 21, 28, Mar 7, 14, 21, 28     4:00pm – 5:30pm

Use the computer to design your own stories, create and share your own animations, and learn how technology is used in the film and media industry. Club will meet weekly with grades 4 through 8 student club members. All skill levels welcome. Google CS First is a free program that increases student access and exposure to computer science (CS) education.

 

Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day

Tuesday, February 20                 3:30pm – 4:45pm

Let’s do something kind and spread some creative encouragement! Create, write, and decorate some small kindness notes to share randomly! Take some home and leave some for the library to place in books. Next time you check out a book maybe you’ll find a happy note!

Rock Painting for Teens

Using different patterns and library supplies teens ages 10 – 18 can use their imagination and creativity to paint rocks to either hide around town or keep for themselves.

Bring a friend or two and have some fun with circuitry building and more with MakeyMakey Snap Circuits Q-BA-Maze LEGO Mindstorms and more! Ages 10-18

Bookish Sort Book Club
