February 1 Tom Edwards
Tom is a singer/songwriter from Callahan, Florida. His music career started as a drummer in junior high school but he quickly turned to guitar and vocals where he honed his singing and guitar playing on 60’s folk music, rhythm & blues and rock and roll. He now plays multiple instruments with his band, Gnarly Fingers, in Hiawassee, GA but, writing and performing “story songs”, as he calls them, is his true passion. Over the past few years he has re-joined the Folk/Americana scene in Florida and his original catalog now numbers more than eighty songs, many of which reminisce about his growing up in his beloved home state of Florida. His songs run the gamut from whimsical to historical ballads and he continues to be influenced by his rural upbringing mixed with his time spent in Appalachia. Recently, he has been working with the great Larry Mangum, backing him up on bass or mandolin and vocals and has appeared at the Will McLean and Barberville Festivals, as well as The Mudville Music Room in Jacksonville.
